Kickstarter – 10 January

In case you were wondering what had happened to the Book Four Kickstarter campaign, originally penciled in for the end of October/Early November, then the sad news is that it has been delayed until next year. There have been a few problems with sorting out art assets, so both myself and Megara felt it would be better to delay the Kickstarter to improve the experience and ensure that Book Four is the very best that it can be. Frustrating I know - but it will be worth the wait!

The Kickstarter will be running from 10 January to 10 February. I really hope that fans (both new and old!) are able to participate and pledge their support, to help with the success of the next book and the ongoing series as a whole. Work continues on Book Four – I have now finished Act 1, which I think is easily the biggest (and best?) Act that I have written so far for a DestinyQuest book. I’m now moving onto Act 2, which is already looking equally epic!

There are only two Acts in the upcoming book (as opposed to three, which was the original plan), because I have now decided to split the next story into two volumes. This was a pretty easy decision to make, as there is just so much I need to pack into this story – and as I started writing and developing Act 1, it became quickly apparent that I would need two books to tell the story properly.

So, The Raiders of Dune Sea is essentially vol. 1 of the new story, with the follow-up book completing the story arc. That means, for the first time in the DestinyQuest series, you will get to carry your hero across from one book to the next.

In the mean time, you may want to check out the recent interview that I did with Gamebook News, in which I share some tidbits about the upcoming book and what new features you can expect to discover as you take to the sand seas.

While this year has been relatively slow for news, you can be sure that 2018 is going to be an exciting year for the series, with lots of updates and insights into the new game mechanics and features. A huge thank you to all the fans who have continued to give their support to the series – and hope to see you at the Kickstarter launch for what I hope will be a great month of DQ goodness!

Happy adventuring!
