At the start of this orange quest, we can choose to explore the ruins, where we fight the totem and get a chance to find the golden mirror (which would be helpful later on to access a secret room). If we choose the other way, we get a chance to gain the codeword west view (which we need, together with the south and east view - which are available later any way we choose - to complete the scholar's request of drawing a map). So, am I correct in saying that if we find the golden mirror we can't "complete" the scholar's request and viceversa? Thanks.
