Hi! Sorry im new here i jist got the book for xmas and i had to ask, how are you supposed to figure out the puzzle on 456 ? Thanks to some replies here i now know to add +1+2+3+4+5 to each row but does it say how to figure it out in the book somewhere ? Did i miss a page somewhere ?

I'll have a go at explaining. Brackets is the number in the triangle. The numbers after are those in the row/column leading from it.

If you have this: (9) and then after it, a 4 and a missing number, the missing number would be 5. To make 9.

But the destiny quest puzzle has modifiers. So the number is less the modifier.

Take the above example. If they were on the second row then they would have +2. It would display as: (9) and then 2 and a missing number. The missing number would then become 3.

The calculation is: 9 = (2+2) + (3+2)

You need to calculate the numbers for the three symbols and put them in order as they are shown at the top of the stone. GL!

The answer is in Nax's post. The puzzle is a little similar to the Japenese KenKen puzzles. The numbers must add up to the number in the triangles. It's confusing because each row has an addition modifier (+1, +2, +3....). Myrrth explains it better in an earlier post.

I'm totally lost with the puzzle §456. I dont understand how i can resolve it.

Where are the missing number ?? in the square ? or in the star, round and hourglass ??

Could you explain me the process because i'm lossding patience and the book will be fly soon throught my window !

The answer for the top line is 2. (5 +1) + (? +1) = 9. The missing number is 2.

Without been able to look at the book I'll go off memory for this one. If the number that you are making on the first row is 10 and you are given 3 and a missing number. The 3 becomes a 4 (+1) so the missing number is 5 (+1 makes it a 6).
I didn't find it that hard once you know that other than the totals each number has +1 or +2 or +3 based on what row you find it.

Ok, just came across this one and I want to make sure I have the right idea. Taking the first row: 29\9 | 5 | star | blank | 6
We need to figure out how these add up to 9 with the modifier? And one of those numbers is the missing star?
I guess where I'm confused is that you guys are saying to add a number. But in this case, I subtract 1 from 5 and 6 to get 4 and 5 which add up to 9. I'm not seeing how I can add anything to these numbers to get 9.
And if this is too much spoiler, sorry. I can delete it, if this is deemed too spoilery.

Thanks, Boss, I'm in the beginning of act 2 with my new hero, I just did the quest again and got it! Stabby, yes, the problem is about the modifiers. 397 is the right number after you apply the modifiers to all numbers on the table to make the summations work. But the right number has no modifiers, so you have to subtract them back.

Analander I think I see your problem. You need to apply the modifier to all the numbers not just the one you are missing. I think you are using the modifier on the missing one only. ??

Hey all,

When I was playing I used the tips you guys provided to solve the puzzle on page 456 and I reached the number 397 as answer. So, I went to that reference and it made sense at first, you know, opening a chest and finding some items, but when I kept playing, I realized that I wasn't in the same quest anymore (green one). Later I realized that reference 397 is part of the blue quest in act 2. So I suppose that 397 is the answer to some puzzle in the blue quest. But I checked my calculations again and I couldn't find any mistake.

So, please, can someone confirm if my solution is wrong or if there is a continuation problem in the book? Thanks!

+2 to numbers second row
+3 to numbers third row
+4 t0 numbers fourth row

If you have a 4 in the second row then it would have a value of 6, a 2 in the first row has a value of 3. You find the missing numbers (where the shapes are) to create a three digit number I don't have the puzzle to look so i can't be more specific

Thanks for helping, I'll try and check if I'm able to find the solution. I thought it was something like this, but I think I've made some mistakes adding the numbers... quite a stupid mistake which took me far from solving the puzzle. Hopefully it'll not take me another couple of days..

Had me flummoxed for a while. The numbers in the columns and rows must add up to the total in each triangular section. What made it difficult is each row has a plus (+) modifier
